About
About
Based on Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unity Temple the idea was to create an addition, focused to help preserve the temple and provide a larger place for the community. By creating a multistory university/study building for the students of Unity Temple it allows for the expressions of his work to shine through and reincarnation from a more modernised standpoint. Flowing from Wrights work the incorporation of a dynamic water garden and communal outdoor space is built linking both building and the site in function and form. The building borrows elements from Wrights work and takes inspiration in his level of detail and aspirations of light. The building captures light through many different areas, each level having a distinctive shadow baise and feel. Light flows through the building and appears within and throughout the core stairs and windows pushing the natural light with reflections and strategically placed interior elements. Which were developed following Wrights principles and his own furniture.

Capturing light and giving it value was a central concern in Frank Lloyd Wright’s work pursued not as visual drama but as a way to shape space guide movement and create meaning. In projects such as Unity Temple light is carefully controlled and revealed through structure proportion and sequence allowing it to unfold gradually rather than appear all at once.
This project works within that approach treating light as an active part of the design rather than a background condition. It explores light in multiple ways using structure and landscape to extend the spatial logic of Unity Temple’s roof and its garden. Light is drawn into the building shaped and filtered to strengthen the sense of movement and awareness helping occupants understand where they are in relation to the space and the building as a whole.
